Have you ever asked yourself why you are not doing a thing? The obvious answer “A lack of motivation.” But have you ever asked yourself where that lack of motivation could come from? Based on years of work with his patients, psychologist Ross Ellenhorn recently published a book with a simple, yet intriguing and far-reaching theory.
According to Ross’ recent published book “How We Change: (And Ten Reasons Why We Don’t)” the reason is that we fear to hope. This simple fear shows up in ten ways, that influence our motivation to act.
If you want to learn how the fear of hope might get in your way or the way of your team, organization, or loved ones, join us for this class.
For the past three decades, Dr. Ellenhorn has been a pioneer and leader in the development and promotion of community integration services, types of care that serve and empower individuals diagnosed with psychiatric and/or addiction issues while they remain in their own communities and outside institutional settings. Trained as a sociologist, psychotherapist, and social worker, Dr. Ellenhorn created the first fully-operating intensive hospital diversion and wrap-around program in Massachusetts. He later created and led one of the first public Programs for Assertive Community Treatment teams in that state.
